FREDERICKSBURG - Roy John Pleggenkuhle, 83, of Fredericksburg, died Saturday, Sept. 10, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center, New Hampton.

He was born Aug. 1, 1922, on the family farm in rural Fayette County, son of William and Emma Stephan Pleggenkuhle. On Nov. 27, 1941, he married Ruth Gruenberg at the Little Brown Church, Nashua.

Mr. Pleggenkuhle graduated from Alpha High School, Alpha. He farmed in the Fredericksburg and Sumner area for 58 years, retiring in 1989.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Diane Shedd (George Patula) of Clarksville, Tenn., and Lana (Ronn) Miller of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren; a brother, Robert (Dolores) of Fredericksburg; a sister, Anna Mae Schlatter of West Union; and two sisters-in-law, Esther Pleggenkuhle of Sumner and Hilda Oelrich of Hawkeye.

Preceded in death by a son, Allan; a sister, Orpha Gray; two brothers, Ralph and Ross; and two brothers-in-law, Raymond Gray and Alfred Schlatter.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Peters Lutheran Church-Richfield, rural Sumner, with burial in Richfield Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home, Fredericksburg, and for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
