NEW HAMPTON - Gwendolyn M. Douglas, 80, of New Hampton, died Tuesday, July 19, 2005, at the 11th Street Chautauqua Guest Home, Charles City.
She was born Sept. 1, 1924, on the family farm west of Williamstown, daughter of August and Helen Wilson Kahn. On Jan. 31, 1942, she married Bernard Douglas at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. He died Oct. 31, 2000.
Mrs. Douglas and her husband farmed in Chickasaw County until 1977 when they moved to an acreage north of New Hampton. Throughout the years she worked as a cook at the Heritage Residence and the Senior Center, New Hampton.
Survivors include five daughters, Helen Nosbisch of Waterloo, Gloria Parks of New Hampton, Norma (Tim) Shea of Dodge City, Kan., Nancy (Tim) Bathke of Tripoli and Angela Piper of Ionia; three sons, Louis (Karen) of Waterloo, Duane (Brenda) of Cresco and Reuben (Carla) of Denver, Iowa; 25 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; and two sisters, Geraldine Huffman of New Hampton and Norma Nissen of Comanche.
Preceded in death by two infant sons, Bernard and Dennis; and three sons-in-law, William Nosbisch, Gary Piper and Donald Parks.
Services: 2 p.m. Saturday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, New Hampton, with burial in New Hampton Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home, New qHampton, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.
