NEW HAMPTON - Richard Frederick Scully, 96, of New Hampton, died Monday, May 16, 2005, at the New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born March 10, 1909, in Waverly, son of James Edward and Lenore Louise Bahmeier Scully. On Nov. 15, 1938, he married Florence Winzenburg at St. Marys Church Rectory, Waverly.
Mr. Scully graduated from Waverly High School in 1926. He worked on the Scully Family Farm, then worked on a farm in California. During World War II he worked at an incendiary bomb plant. In 1951, he moved to New Hampton and began working for the Iowa State Highway Commission, retiring in 1974. Following his retirement he spent four summers working maintenance and grounds at the New Hampton Country Club.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Sharon (Max) Williams of Monument, Colo., and Elaine (Joe) Mahrenholz of Panora; a son, Brian (Julie) of Fairbanks, Alaska; three grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren; and a sister, Elizabeth (John) Deatherage of Mabank, Texas.
Preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Stanley.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Parish-St. Marys Center, New Hampton, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home, New Hampton, where there will be a 6 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary and 6:30 p.m. Scripture service. Visitation also from 8 to 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
