NASHUA - Robert C. Stille, 85, of Moline, Ill., formerly of Nashua, died Thursday, March 29, 2007, at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, Ill.
He was born May 2, 1921, in Floyd County, son of Edward and Elsie Hauswirth Stille. He married Lorretta Bennett June 20, 1941, at Central Methodist Church, Charles City.
Robert was initiated into Local 25 Plumber and Pipefitters on January 16, 1958. He was president of Local 25 for two terms, served on the Refrigeration Fitter Examining Board and taught journeymen and apprentice classes for most of his career. Throughout the years he worked for various contractors and retired June 1, 1984. He also taught refrigeration/air-conditioning classes at the United Township Area Career Center for seven years.
He was a World War II veteran.
Survived by his wife; three sons, Larry (Nancy) of Spirit Lake, Lane (Marilyn) of George and Kent (Donna) of Indianola; two daughters, Linda Davis of Moline and Joyce Stille of Bolton, Conn.; 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mabel (Kenneth) Eckenrod and Leona (LeRoy) Jacobs; a brother, Eldon (Lois); and three sisters-in-law, Ramona Stille, Martha Stille and Helen Stille.
Preceded in death by four brothers, Clarence, Kenneth and Clyde, and Gary in infancy; a sister, Lucille Cummins; and a son-in-law, Dennis Davis.
Services: 1 p.m. Monday at Riverside United Methodist Church, Moline, with burial in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Public visitation from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Esterdahl Mortuary & Crematory Ltd., Moline.
