Died: May 16, 2004

Services will be held at Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M, on Thursday, May 20, 2004, at Immaculate Conception Church in Haverhill. Burial will follow services in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Haverhill.

Sylvester Lang was born on August 15, 1917 in New Hampton, Iowa, the son of Joseph and Catherine Westendorf Lang. He attended school in Haverhill. Sylvester served his country in the United States Army where he was awarded two bronze stars for bravery at the Beaches of Normandy.

On August 27, 1946 Sylvester was united in marriage with Florence Mary Handfelt in Menominee, Illinois. He was a farmer all of his life and worked at Fisher Control for 10 years. He enjoyed fishing, billiards and spending time with his friends.

He was a member of the American Legion Frank-Lewis-Glick post # 46, the Moose Lodge, the Knights of Columbus and the Immaculate Conception Church in Haverhill.

Sylvester Lang is survived by wife: Florence Lang of Marshalltown, son: Leo (Deb) Lang of Garwin, Iowa; son: Ambrose (Debra) Lang of Marshalltown; daughters, Arlene (Jan) Lang of Marshalltown; Mary Lou Daniel of Marshalltown; 13 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, sister, Celestine Boyer.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, 6 sisters and 2 great-grandchildren in infancy.
