NEW HAMPTON - Vincel Barfels Eslinger, 91, of New Hampton, died Monday, Jan. 8, 2007, at the New Hampton Care Center.

He was born Nov. 2, 1915, in Reinbeck, Grundy County, son of John and Bertha Barfels Eslinger. He married Hattie Glasner, and she preceded him in death in 1981. He then married Amy Nyswander May 14, 1982, at Leech Lake, Minn.

He graduated from Reinbeck High School in 1933 and farmed all of his life. Mr. Eslinger farmed in Grundy County until 1949 when they moved to Chickasaw County, where he continued to farm until his retirement in 1976.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Larry (Karen) of Grundy Center and Donald of Waukon; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Carole Eslinger; and two brothers, Jiles and Gilbert.

Services: 11 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church, New Hampton, with burial in the New Hampton Cemetery. Public visitation for an hour before services Friday at the church, with Masonic services beginning at 9:45 a.m.
