Funeral services for Jerry Felder of Alta Vista were held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 25 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Alta Vista. The Rev. Roger R. Rethamel, Rev. Vince Rosonke and Rev. Steve Rosonke officiated. Inurnment was in Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Alta Vista. Pall placers were his granddaughters: Erika, Toni Jo and Annie Felder. Pall bearers were: Robert Hilsman, Kelly Mishak, Jeff Elenz, Jim Peters, Don Recker and Vince Nuebel. Honorary pall bearers were: Paul Troyna, Brad Schwickerath, Travis Brummond, Russ Hilsman and Scott Felder. Conway Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Jerry, 70, died Friday, January 21, 2000 of kidney failure at North Iowa Mercy Health Center in Mason City.
Jerry A. Felder was born May 12, 1929 at Alta Vista, the son of August and Anna (Delsing) Felder. He atttended St. Williams School.
On September 21, 1950 he married Delores Mishak at St. Bernard’s Church. They resided in Alta Vista.
Jerry was a member of St. Bernard’s Church and of the Men’s Choir. He had served as chief for the Alta Vista Fire Department and had been a City Councilman. He was an avid sportsman.
Jerry owned and operated Felder Livestock and Trucking and in 1984 with his son Mike founded Southside Truck Parts. He retired in 1995.
Survivors include his wife, Delores; one son, Mike of Alta Vista; one daughter, Linda Larson of Ft. Worth, TX; three grandchildren; three sisters: Madonna Recker of Alta Vista, Henlen Ray of Mesa, AZ, and Rita Ann Nuebel of Dunkerton; and three brothers: Gene of Prairie du Chien, WI, Ray of New Hampton, and Bernard of Alta Vista.
Jerry was preceded in death by two sisters, Irma Heying and Irene Felder.
