Funeral services for Ervin Shores of Little Turkey were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 13 at Hugeback’s Protivin Funeral Home. The Rev. Allen Schmitt of Holy Trinity Catholic Church officiated. Interment was in Jerico Lutheran Church Cemetery. Pall bearers were: Gerald Tieskotter, John Polashek, Dale Throndson, Wayne Throndson, Donny Fisher and Norb Busta.

Ervin, 76, died Tuesday, January 11, 2000 at his home of natural causes.

Ervin Shores was born July 18, 1923 near Little Turkey, the son of Edd and Josephine (Kupka) Shores. He attended school at Utica #6 Country School.

In June 1952 he married Swede Ronnei at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Initially the couple lived in Protivin for a year, then moved to the farm where he was raised. He farmed beginning in 1953 and contued through 1970 at which time he went to work at the Chickasaw County Secondary Roads. He retired from the county in 1987 at the age of 64 after 18 years of service.

Ervin enjoyed fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife Swede.

Ervin was preceded in death by his parents.
