Funeral services for Dennis Pitz of Cresco were held at noon on Wednesday, November 27, 1996, at the Assumption Catholic Church in Cresco. The Rev. Michael Fitzgerald officiated. Interment was in Calvary Cemetery with Conway Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

He died of a heart attack at the Howard County Hospital on Monday, November 25, 1996.

Dennis Paul Pitz was born on December 31, 1925, in Ionia, IA, the son of George and Clara (Miller) Pitz. He attended school in Ionia.

On February 1, 1951, he was united in marriage to Phyllis Marvin in Ionia. They farmed near Bassett in Chickasaw County for a few years moving to a farm near Cresco in 1964. Dennis also drove semi-trailer for almost 20 years, first driving for others and finally started his own trucking business. Dennis and Phyllis moved into Cresco in 1989.

He is survived by his wife; one son, Merle of Elma; one daughter, Ronda Tufte of Evergreen, CO; eight grandchildren; and one brother, Lorell of New Hampton, IA.

He was preceded in death by one son, Roger; three brothers, Merle, LeRoy, and Sylvester; and two infant sisters.
