NEW HAMPTON - Catherine Schwickerath Duryee, 83, of New Hampton, died at home Tuesday, July 5, 2005.

She was born Oct. 8, 1921, in New Hampton, daughter of Ed and Mabel French Breitbach. On June 26, 1939, she married Norbert Schwickerath at St. Patricks Catholic Church, Jerico. He died May 30, 1969. On Oct. 2, 1976, she married Wendell Duryee at the Little Brown Church, Nashua.

Mrs. Duryee was a 1938 graduate of New Hampton High School. She and her first husband farmed near Ionia and near New Hampton.

Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Jeanne (Leon) Miller of Ionia, Mary (Mark) McDermott of Swisher and Teresa (Shayne O#Shea) Schwickerath of Cottonwood, Ariz.; eight sons, Ken (Marilyn) of Charles City, Dan (Herminia) of Aplington, Andy (Mary Ann) of St. Marys, Ga., Steve (Sandy) of Munds Park, Ariz., Tom (Brenda) of St. Louis, Mo., Keith (Penny) of Baltimore, Ohio, Roy (Deb) and Alan (Dana), both of Charles City; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn McQueen of Pikeville, Ky.; a stepdaughter, Linda Nelson of Forest City; a stepson, Dennis Duryee of Waterloo; 42 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren, three stepgrandchildren and four stepgreat-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth (Eugene) Schultz and Viola Palmersheim, both of New Hampton; two brothers, Donald and Dick (Eileen) Breitbach, both of New Hampton; a sister-in-law, Beverly Breitbach of New Hampton; and a brother-in-law, Jerry (Mel) Schwickerath of Los Angeles.

Preceded in death by two sons, Michael in infancy and Charles; and a brother, Edward Breitbach.

Services: 10 a.m. Friday at Holy Family Parish-St. Joseph Center, New Hampton, with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Charles City. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home, New Hampton, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and 7 p.m. Scripture service. Visitation also for an hour before services Friday at the church.
