NASHUA - Arthur "Bud" Walsh, 82, of Altoona, Wis., formerly of Nashua and Plainfield, died Wednesday, May 25, 2005, at Oakwood Villa, Altoona.

He was born Nov. 6, 1922, in Nashua, son of George J. and Mary K. Kraft Walsh. He married Doris Shuler in January 1947 at the Congregational Church in Mason City.

He graduated from school in Nashua in 1940 and then was employed at the Oliver Tractor Co., Charles City, from 1941 to 1943. He served in the U.S. Army in the Pacific Theatre including Hawaii, Okinawa and Seoul, Korea.

Mr. Walsh attended the University of Iowa for two years and then joined his father in the masonry trade. He later served in the Army Reserves as a tech sergeant and then served as administrative assistant in the Iowa National Guard Armory, Charles City, for more than 15 years. He also worked at Hydrotile Machinery, Nashua, as production control manager and vibration sales manager for 10 years and later was a sales representative for seed companies, retiring in 1987.

Survived by his wife; four sons, Arthur Jr. of Roswell, Ga., Gregory of St. James, Minn., Jeff of Charles City and David of Eau Claire, Wis.; a daughter, Connie Mautz of Urbandale; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a brother, Larry (Sharon) of Mapleton, Minn.; two sisters, Dorothy Phelps and Kay (Lenos) Connor, both of Nashua; and a brother-in-law, Harry McKenzie of Aurora, Colo.

Preceded in death by his twin brother, Eric; a sister, Mary Jane McKenzie; and a brother-in-law, Glen Phelps.

Services: 11 a.m. today at First Congregational Church, Nashua, with burial in Sunnyside Memory Gardens, rural Charles City. Flag presentation will be performed by Nashua Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 6792. Friends may call for an hour before services today at the church. Hugeback and Chenoweth Funeral Home, Nashua, is in charge of arrangements.
