PROTIVIN - James F. Novak, 86, of Protivin, died Tuesday, May 31, 2005, at the New Hampton Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, New Hampton, of natural causes.
He was born Sept. 28, 1918, near Protivin, son of Charles and Anna Praska Novak. On Oct. 27, 1942, he married Marie Haskovec in Lourdes. She died July 23, 1979.
Mr. Novak farmed and in 1953 went to work for Allied Construction until 1970.
Survivors include two daughters, Donna (Lester) Lechtenberg of Spillville and Diane (Delbert) Drilling of Raymond; a son, Duane (Patty) Novak of Rochester, Minn.; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sophie Bender of Decorah.
Preceded in death by a brother, Julius; and two sisters, Henrietta Mrachek and Gertrude Voyek.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Protivin, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Conway Funeral Home, Protivin, where there will be a 7 p.m. Scripture service and a 6 p.m. Knights of Columbus rosary.
