NEW HAMPTON - Lucille A. Buckendahl, 87, of New Hampton, died Thursday, April 21, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center, New Hampton.

She was born Oct. 22, 1917, in Herman, Minn., daughter of Fred and Sophie Zell Volker. She married August A. Buckendahl on June 11, 1937, in Minneapolis. He died March 29, 1983.

Mrs. Buckendahl and her husband farmed north of Frederika and later in the Williamstown area.

Survivors include three daughters, Shirley (Harold) Wiegand, Nancy (Louis) Whitnabel and Theresa Throndson, all of New Hampton; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; seven stepgreat-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jim Volker of Cedar Falls and Roy (Maxine) Volker of Frederika; and two sisters, Sophie Mueller of Sumner and Evelyn Rewoldt of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Janice Schlindwein; a granddaughter; a great-grandson; and two brothers, William and Fred Volker.

Services: 2 p.m. today at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Frederika, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call for an hour before services at the church today. Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home, New Hampton, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church in Frederika or Hospice of North Iowa.
