NEW HAMPTON - Stanley Edward Koehler, 87, of New Hampton, died Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Good Shepherd Health Center, Mason City.
He was born Jan. 14, 1927, in Sumner, son of Edward and Esther Wendland Koehler. In 1965 he married Dorothy Pohlmann at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sumner, and they later divorced. On Nov. 26, 1977, he married Betty Smith at the Little Brown Church, Nashua; she died Feb. 29, 2012.
Stanley graduated from Sumner High School in 1946, and then worked with his father on the family dairy farm before becoming a plumber with Heyer Plumbing, Waterloo. He moved to New Hampton where he became employed with Mick Gage Plumbing and Heating until his retirement. He also sold Watkins products and was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.
Survived by two daughters, Sara Koehler of Urbana and Irene Schoeberl of Cedar Rapids; two grandsons; and a brother, Eugene of Waverly.
Preceded in death by his parents; and a sister-in-law, Arlene Koehler.
Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Redeemer Lutheran Church, New Hampton, with burial in St. John’s Cemetery, Sumner. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Conway-Markham Funeral Home, New Hampton, and for an hour before services Saturday at the church.
