Obituary for Philip Henry Ogg--

Philip H. Ogg, age 64 of New Hampton, died Saturday March 22, 2014, at his home.

Funeral services will be held 6:30 p.m. Wednesday March 26, 2014, at Hugeback - Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton. Friends may greet the family 3:30 - 6:30 p.m. Wednesday March 26, 2014, at Hugeback - Johnson Funeral Home in New Hampton.

Philip Henry Ogg was born December 2, 1949, in Ste. Rose du Lac, Manitoba, Canada, the son of Harry and Dora (Labelle) Ogg. He attended a one room school house in Laurier, Manitoba, Canada, where he received his grade school and high school education. After high school, Philip earned a degree from Assiniboine Community College where he majored in Carpentry and minored in Drafting.

Philip married Sandra Trainor in 1971, and the couple later divorced. Philip met Valleri Annett in Cedar Falls in 1975, and the couple were married February 22, 1977 in Austin, Minnesota. Phil worked for Sult Construction in Cedar Falls, Iowa for several years, later the family moved to Texas where Phil was self–employed building and remodeling homes in Irving, Texas. After many years of working in Texas, the family moved to the New Hampton area. During this time, Philip worked for Bud Meyer Transport, ConAgra Foods in Fredericksburg and recently working for West Side Transport for 13 years out of Cedar Rapids.

Phil had a passion for horses and raised Quarter Horses on their acreage. Later in his life he became a NASCAR fan. Phil loved spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.

Left to cherish Phil’s memory is his wife of 37 years, Valleri of New Hampton; four sons, Robbie Strange of Eldora, Iowa, Kristopher Strange of Iowa Falls, Iowa, Trenton (Cherice) Ogg of Ames, Iowa; Dack Ogg of Mason City, Iowa; a daughter, Samanda (Ron) Even of Jesup, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; mother, Dora Ogg of Brandon, Manitoba, Canada; two brothers, Larry Ogg of Manitoba, Canada, Lionel (Connie) Ogg of Brandon, Manitoba, Canada; two sisters, Lorraine (Brian) McNish of Lyleton, Manitoba, Canada, Linda (Glen) Prawdzik of Manitoba, Canada.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Ogg; brother, Wayne Ogg.
