NEW HAMPTON - Myrna Aileen Brownfield, 91, of New Hampton, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2005, at Mercy Medical Center, New Hampton.

She was born June 25, 1914, in Alma, New Brunswick, Canada, daughter of Allison Samuel and Ella Mabel McQuaid Butland. On Sept. 14, 1949, she married Leon Brownfield in Colorado Springs, Colo. He died in 1967.

Mrs. Brownfield received her education in Saint John, New Brunswick, then trained in nursing at Saint John General Hospital. In 1941, she was commissioned in the Canadian Army as a lieutenant in the Canadian Medical Corp. She served her country in Canada, the United Kingdom and continental Europe, and returned to reserve status in 1945. She first worked for Sr. Nolie Mumey, a Denver physician, then worked as an obstetrics nurse at Presbyterian Hospital, eventually working her way up to head night supervisor of Presbyterian Medical Center, retiring in 1980.

Survivors include a daughter, Brita (Dr. Richard) Reams of New Hampton; and two granddaughters.

Preceded in death by a brother and sister-in-law, Edgar and Martha Butland; and sister, Helen (Mike) Dixon.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, New Hampton, with burial in Fort Logan National Cemetery, Denver, Colo. Friends may call from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. Friday at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home, New Hampton, where there will be a 7 p.m. remembrance service followed by a video memorial tribute. Visitation also for an hour before services Saturday at the church.
