Peter Meyers, 88, of Ionia, died Friday, Jan. 21, at St. Joseph Hospital in New Hampton. He had been ill two weeks following an embolism

Born in Germany Aug. 14, 1855, he came to this country as a young man, living in Ohio, Minnesota and Illinois. He was married to Elizabeth Fells at Lena, Ill., on Jan 12, 1885. They moved five years later to a farm one mile east of Bassett, and in 1904 to Ionia.

Surviving are his widow, 10 children: Katherine Meyers, Davenport; Anna, Sister Mary Jerome, Dubuque; Clara and Irene Meyers, Des Moines; John Meyers, Iowa City; Maude Meyers, Topeka, Kas.; Leonilla, Mrs. M. V. Doyle, Lawler, Cletus Meyers, Ionia and Frances, Mrs. Hubert Burgart, Ionia.

One son died in infancy and another son, Math Meyers, died in 1934. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were held Monday morning, at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Ionia.
