Paul W. Anderson March 21, 1932 - May 2, 2010

Paul W. Anderson, age 78 of Ionia, IA died on Sunday, May 2, 2010 at New Hampton Nursing and Rehab Center in New Hampton, IA.

In life, Paul was born on a farm in Hamilton County, Iowa, the son of Alfred and Bertha (Jacobson) Anderson. He received his education at a rural one room school. He later attended school in Webster City and graduated from Blairsburg in 1949. Paul briefly worked on the railroad before joining the Air Force in 1951. He was honorably discharged on October 1, 1953.

On July 19, 1952 Paul was united in marriage to Rosemary Walton at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They farmed for a total of 55 years which included, seven years south of Williams, Iowa, five years near Pomeroy, Iowa, and the last 43 years at their present farm near Ionia. Paul worked for Mel Reicks Construction as a carpenter for five years. He served on the Trinity Lutheran Church Council,15 years on the Farmers Coop Board, and served as a Dayton Township Trustee for several years. Paul enjoyed playing cards, family events, traveling, watching sports, and he loved farming.

Paul is survived by his wife Rosemary of Ionia; 4 children, Paula (Jerry) Hentges of Spirit Lake, IA, Karen Lindley of Alexandria, MN, Luann (Rick) Weigel of Grinnell, IA, and Grant (Krissy) Anderson of New Hampton; 14 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Arlene (Marion) Martin of Webster City, IA; and one sister-in-law, Jean (Bob) Telleen of Ames, IA..

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Hertha Ostbloom; and one brother, Roger Anderson.

Burial will take place at New Hampton Cemetery. Serving as casket bearers will be Gregg Hutchison, Alan Hutchison, Larry Martin, Troy Martin, Brad Anderson, and Norman Ostbloom.

Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, May 5, 2010 at Conway-Kolbet Funeral Home in New Hampton. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Thursday, May 6, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church, in New Hampton, IA with Reverend Kevin Frey officiating.
