AGED DEERFIELD RESIDENT PASSES AWAY TUESDAY

Paul Rollier Succumbs to Heart Ailment

Paul Rollier, 85 years of age, and for more than thirty-give years a resident of the Deerfield community, passed away Tuesday afternoon, January 28, 1936, after a short illness from a heart ailment. Mr. Rollier had made his home with his daughter, Mrs. Adolph Katz, the past few years and it was there that he died.

Mr. Rollier was born in Switzerland, on October 15, 1850. He received his early education in that country, and about 67 years ago migrated to America, where he has since been occupied as a farmer. About 35 years ago he moved to Chickasaw County, settling in Deerfield Township, where he has since made his home, and where he raised his family.

Mr. Rollier is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Adolph Katz, living east of Alta Vista, and by three sons: Arthur Rollier of St. Louis, Missouri, and Walter and Rufus Rollier of Dougherty, Iowa.

Mrs. Rollier, who was Miss Ernestine Brenneisen, before her marriage, preceded her husband in death about two years ago.

Mr. Rollier was a fine old man, beloved by all who knew him, and his passing, even at the ripe old age of 85, will prove a sad loss, not only to his children, but to his many neighbors and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, January 31st, by the Rev. Karsten, pastor of the Alta Vista Lutheran Church. Burial will be made in the cemetery at Bassett, beside the body of his wife.

The New Era joins their many friends in extending sympathy to the bereaved children in their loss.
