Dale Arthur Beck, age 73 of New Hampton, Iowa died Tuesday morning, May 5, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in New Hampton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 8, 2009, at Holy Family Parish-St. Mary’s Center, New Hampton with Msgr. Carl Schmitt celebrating the Mass. The pall will be placed on the casket by his wife and daughters. Ken Diesburg and Gerald McGrath will be lectors and offertory gifts will be presented by Cassie, Jacob, Kinsley and Kayme Hackman.

Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, New Hampton with military honors being conducted by the American Legion and V.F.W. Posts of New Hampton. The flag will be presented by SSG Jeremiah Larson. Pallbearers will be Audra Rinard, Ashley Larson, Jaydon Stover, Clint Mohring, Toni Nelson, Cody Johnston, Kinsley Hackman and Kayme Hackman. Honorary pallbearers are Galen Stover, Doug Powell, Jacob Hackman, Kurt Nelson, Nick Rinard, Jeremiah Larson, Justein Powell, Jordi Powell, Miranda Powell, Trey Nelson, Macy Rinard and Marcus Rinard.

Friends may call 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday at Hugeback & Chenoweth Funeral Home in New Hampton where there will be a 4:00 p.m. Rosary and a 6:30 p.m. Scripture Service. Visitation continues 8:00 - 10:00 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Dale Arthur Beck was born March 4, 1936, in Kerkhoven, MN, the son of John A. and Nellie Mae (Petersen) Beck. He attended rural country school through 8th grade and was a 1954 New Hampton High School graduate. He entered the United States Air Force on June 2, 1954, and served at the Davis-Monthan Air Force Base in Tucson, Arizona. He received an honorable discharge from the United States Air Force Active Duty in 1958 and was a member of the Air Force Reserve for four more years as a T-SGT.

On May 19, 1956, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in New Hampton he was united in marriage to Shirley Ryder. To this union three daughters were born, Cindy, Dee and Cassie. Dale and Shirley lived in Nashua where he worked for Hydrotile from 1958 until 1991. He then worked another ten years at New Hampton Metal Fab. Dale also farmed for many years.

He enjoyed farming, fishing and watching the History Channel. He especially liked his retirement and the time he could spend with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, at all their activities.

Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Shirley; three daughters, Cindy (Galen) Stover of Riceville, IA, Dee (Doug) Powell of Janesville, IA, Cassie (Jacob) Hackman of New Hampton; eight grandchildren; three step-grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; one sister, Dorothy Baethke of Elma, IA; sister and brother-in-law, Ken & Eleanor Diesburg of Murfreesboro, TN; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Donald Beck; brother-in-law, Orville Baethke and sister-in-law, Carole McGrath.
