Minnie M. Zwanziger, 93, of Janesville, Iowa and formerly from Frederika passed away on Monday, June 7, 2010 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo, Iowa.

Minnie May Zwanziger was born on May 24, 1917, the daughter of W. F. and Emma (Albers) Rabe in New Hampton, Iowa. She graduated from New Hampton High School in 1934. Following her education, she taught country school for two years in Devon, Iowa. On November 15, 1938, she was united in marriage to Harold Zwanziger at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. She was employed at the Poultry Factory in Tripoli, the Candling Factory in Frederika for several years before working at Bremwood as a youth counselor and seamstress. Minnie retired from Bremwood in 1993, after working there for 28 years.

She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Janesville and a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Frederika, where she belonged to W.E.L.C.A., a former member of the Bremwood Auxiliary, Royal Neighbors and B.P.W. (Business Professional Women). Minnie was also a 4-H leader for many years for the Wapsie Whrille Wins. She made her home in Frederika for 62 years, moving to Janesville on July 5, 2008. Minnie enjoyed quilting, sewing and knitting, having made an afghan or quilt for all of her family.

Survivors are her son, William (Phyllis) Zwanziger of Janesville, Iowa; two daughters, Sharon (Joseph) Angileri of Rockford, Illinois and Carol (Gerald) Burns of Belvidere, Illinois; 9 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 9 step grandchildren; 5 step great-grandchildren, 1 great great-grandchild and 1 step great great-grandchild; twin sister, May Minnie Rogers of New Hampton, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harold on December 4, 1981; daughter-in-law, Doris Zwanziger; 6 sisters, Louise Beck, Alma Pietan, Edna Schmidt, Bertha Rabe, Emma Hagedorn and Ella Fredrickson; 2 brothers, Will Rabe and Henry Rabe; and by a step grandson, Perry Bockhaus.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 11, 2010 at 10:30 am at Messiah Lutheran Church in Janesville, Iowa with Pastor Irving Sandberg officiating. Burial will follow in the New Hampton Cemetery in New Hampton, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to Bremwood or Cedar Valley Hospice of Waverly, Iowa
