EDWARD ZWANZIGER
IS CALLED BY DEATH

Funeral Services Will Be
Held Thursday Afternoon

Edward Casper Zwanziger, 69, died at his home in Nashua Monday. He suffered a severe cerebral hemorrhage at 8 o'clock and passed away before noon.

Funeral services will be held at Chenoweth and Son Funeral Home Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. Rev. F. L. Hansecom, pastor of the Little Brown Church, will officiate.

Edward Casper Zwanziger, son of Casper and Mary (Fait) Zwanziger, was born on a farm near Six Mile Grove, on August 1, 1877, and passed away at him home in Nashua on March 17, 1947, aged 69 years, 7 months and 16 days.

On December 31, 1901, he was united in marriage with Miss Minnie Briggs of the immediate vicinity. They established their home on the farm of his father, which was also the place of Mr. Zwanziger's birth and on which they continued to reside until his retirement about four years ago.

Five children came to bless their home, namely: Ruth, Mrs. Harden Hansen; Mary, (Mrs. Raymond Henniges); Nettie, (Mrs. Elmer Diets); Nellie, (Mrs. Adolph Oberheu), all living near Nashua and Edward on the home place. There are also eleven grandchildren.

Six sisters surviving are: Mrs. Mary Eckenrod, Mrs. Bert Allison, and Mrs. Will Brown, of near Nashua; Mrs. John Franklin, of Tripoli; Mrs. Alfred Hill, and Mrs. Will Breckenridge, Waterloo.

On January 27th of this year his only brother, Will, passed away.

Besides the above mentioned many sorrowing nieces and nephews, cousins and friends mourn his demise.

Edward Zwanziger was a man of sterling character, honest and upright in his associations with whoever he came in contact. There was always a happy smile and a word of cheer for his legion of friends, but in his home and with his loved ones he was ideal. It was indeed for him a source of pride and pleasure to just have the privilege of being in their love and affection.

His health had been failing for several years, and while all was done that could be done for him, he bore his affliction with patience and courage. He was always faithful and ready to meet each day's cares and burdens, willing to perform his duties to the best of his ability.

He had been a director in the Butler-Bremer Mutual Telephone Co., for many years, also a director in the Farmer's State Bank of Plainfield and a trustee of the Little Brown Church. Mr. and Mrs. Zwanziger united with the church on Easter Sunday last year, and to him it was indeed a "Haven of Rest." He loved to attend the services and his last business association with the board of trustees, was the planning of the preservation of that famous shrine, that it might be kept secure for future generations.
