Julie Ann (Flick) Igou, the daughter of John and Sophia (Tilkes) Flick, was born May 22, 1931, in Ionia, Chickasaw county, Iowa. She attended Catholic School at St. Boniface in Ionia through the eighth grade. When Julie finished school, she began helping on the family farm and worked at the local egg house. She then entered into her long career in the health field as a Nurse’s Aide.

Julie was united in marriage to LeRay Igou on February 1, 1964, at St. Boniface in Ionia. The couple made their home in Nashua for a few years before moving to Charles City in 1968 where they continued to raise their two children, Patrick and Connie. Julie’s career as a Nurse’s Aide spanned more than 35 years including work at the New Hampton Hospital and Salsbury Baptist Home (now Cedar Health) in Charles City. Her work in caring for others allowed Julie to live her faith on a daily basis which was very important to her.

Julie was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Charles City. She was very strong in her faith and was proud to be active in the Prayer Line for her church. Julie loved spending time with her family, especially her grandsons. She liked flower and vegetable gardening, and was an avid reader, who particularly enjoyed biographies and fictional literature.

Living family members include her two children: Patrick (Amy) Igou of Rock Island, Illinois and Connie (John) Alden of Nora Springs; two grandsons: Brett and Brad Alden; siblings: Jerome Flick of Nashua, Kathy Flick of Charles City and Bob (Betty) Flick of Charles City; along with many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, LeRay, in 1989.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and/or Hospice of North Iowa.

The Hauser Funeral Home, (641) 228-2323, in Charles City, is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.hauserfh.com.
