MAN DIES IN
AUTO MISHAP

NEW HAMPTON, IA - Chickasaw County Friday recorded it's first traffic fatality of 1952 in the death of Attley Attleson, 81, about 10 a.m. Friday, a few hours after the car in which he was riding, driven by his daughter, Thelma, 18, skidded on the ice into the side of a Milwaukee freight train at a grade crossing.

He suffered severe head and internal injuries.

His daughter is in St. Joseph's Hospital here, also with head injuries but her condition is not regarded as serious.

Attleson worked for the Oliver Corp. at Charles City and his daughter was bringing him to New Hampton from their farm home to catch a bus for Charles City when the accident occurred at 5:30 a.m.

Attleson is survived by his widow, Millie, and five other children, Percy, Ft. Dodge; Stanley, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Fred Lang, Mrs. Don Hereid and Luther, all of New Hampton.

The body was taken to the Perry Funeral Home.

Funeral services for Attley Attleson, 61, who was fatally injured Friday when the automobile in which he was riding skidded into the side of a Milwaukee freight train, will be at 2 p. m. Monday at St. Olaf s Church in charge of Rev. Leo Bjorie; burial in Graceland Cemetery.

Born July 9, 1890, in Jacksonville Township, Chickasaw County, son of Thomas and Syneva
(Vikdal) Attleson; in September, 1919, he married Millie Eiberg.

He leaves wife, six children, Percy Attleson, Ft. Dodge, Stanley Attleson, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Fred Lang, Mrs. Don Hereid, Thelma Attleson and Luther Attleson, all of New Hampton; 10 brothers and sisters, Hans, Sjur, Eric, Benjamin, Gustave, Thomas, Gertrude and Lucille Attleson, New Hampton; Selmer Attleson. and Sigrid Attleson, both of Waterloo.
