F.W. Roehrich Dies Oct 7 at His Home Here

Funeral Services Held Friday at Lutheran Church At 2:00pm. Burial In Graceland Cemetery

Frederick William Roehrich, age 81 years and 11 months passed away at his home in this city Tuesday, October 7, 1941. Death followed a paralytic stroke. Mr Roehrich had been in failing health for the past four years, but his death followed a week's active illness.

Funeral services were conducted from the home and the Lutheran church, of which he was a lifelong member, Friday at 2:00 o'clock. Rev. T.L. Fritschel conducted the services. Mrs Verle Kenyon and Mrs Charles Doyle sang "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Nearer My God To Thee." Mrs C.J. Pink accompanied them.

The pallbearers were his six grandsons, Julius Stolfus, Herbert Stolfus, Merlyn Stolfus, Walter Stolfus, Ellsworth Campbell and Gaylord Dowd. Burial was in Graceland Cemetery.

Out of town relatives who attended the funeral were William Roehrich and family of Fort Dodge, Iowa. Otto Roehrich and family, Mrs Annie Stolfus and family, and Fred Roehrich and family all of Oelwein.

Frederick Roehrich, the son of Mr and Mrs William Roehrich was born in Schanwalde, Germany on November 7, 1859. He was educated in the schools of Germany until he was confirmed at the age of 14 years. he came to his country in 1881 when he was 22 years of age. For two years he worked in a sawmill in Warsaw, Wisconsin. In 1883 he came to New Hampton where he spent the remainder of his life. He was employed by the railroad and was a towerman for eighteen years, until his retirement.

Mr Roehrich was married to Ida Bouska August 5, 1892. To this union thirteen children were born. Two daughters, Martha and Ida, preceded him in death.

He is survived by his wife and eleven children, three daughters, Mrs Mildred Dowd and Mrs Marie Campbell of New Hampton and Mrs Annie Stolfus of Oelwein, and eight sons, William of Fort Dodge, Otto and Fred of Oelwein, Julius, Albert, Alfred, Carl and Paul of New Hampton. He also leaves a sister, Mrs Elisa Timm of New Hampton, twenty-one grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.

Mr Roehrich was a hard working honest man of good habits. He was a good husband and father who could always be found at home with his family when his work was done.
