Mrs John Welzien Has Passed Away

Died Friday of Heart Failure
After One Day Illness at Age of
Sixty-eight.
Leaves Husband and Five Children

The death of Mrs John Welzien occurred at the hospital Friday, May 20, 1927 after but one day's sickness of heart trouble.

The deceased, Mrs Ulrieke Anna Louise Welzien was a daughter of Fredericka Schulz and Frederick Fredrich and was born in Daber Pommern, Germany on February 4, 1859.

By a former marriage she became the mother of eight children, three of whom died in infancy. Five are still alive.

On December 11, 1902, she was married at Boyd, Iowa to Mr John Welzien who survives her.

Her living children are Mrs Marie Foote of Evergreen, Colorado; Albert Ohm of Lawler, Iowa; Mrs Elizabeth Petersen, Mrs Minnie Zipse and Mrs Martha Carlson all of Fredericksburg. She also leaves nine grandsons.

Mrs Welzien was educated in the schools of Germany. She was a good and noble daughter, wife and mother. A devoted Christian and a faithful member of the Lutheran Church. She was an active member of the Lutheran Ladies Aid of Boyd and for many years its secretary.

Mrs Welzien came to Chickasaw county in 1897 and has lived on a farm a mile south of Boyd since 1920.

Her funeral was held from the Boyd Lutheran church on Tuesday afternoon of May 24, 1927 at 2 o'clock and burial was made in Graceland cemetery in New Hampton. The services were conducted by the pastor, Rev. Herz.

Those from a distance here to attend the funeral were Mrs Marie Foote of Evergreen, Colorado. Mrs Augusta Zeige and Mrs Emma Kranke of Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Sympathy is extended to her husband and children in this time of their great sorrow.
