Mrs Petersen Funeral
Rites To Be Held Today

Funeral services for Mrs. Elizabeth Petersen, 71, of New Hampton will be held Thursday, May 19, (today) at 2pm at the Trinity Lutheran Church. The pastor, Rev. Luther H. Berven, officiated.

Mrs Henry Hauth, accompanied by Mrs Norbert Stolz at the organ sang.

Interment was in Graceland Cemetery with six nephews as casketbearers: Robert Ohm, Ervin Ohm, Clarence Ohm, and Leon Carlson of New Hampton and Clifford Ohm and Harry Ohm of Lawler.

Ill for three years with cancer and hospitalized most of the time since last January, she died at St Joseph's Hospital, New Hampton, about 12:30 pm Monday, May 16.

Elizabeth Anna, daughter of Robert and Ulrieke (Frederick) Ohm was born in Germany on Aug 8, 1888. She came to this country and to Chickasaw County at the age of 8. She was confirmed in The Boyd Lutheran Church on Feb 23, 1902. In 1909 she was married to Harry Downes in Chicago and one son was born to this union. Mr Downes died in 1918.

On February 15, 1923, at the Boyd Church, she was married to Chris Petersen, who died in June, 1939. Mrs Petersen, except for the years in Germany and Chicago, lived all her life in Chickasaw County. She had lived in New Hampton since 1940.

Surviving are one son, Leonard of rural Fredericksburg; three grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Edward (Minna) Zipse of New Hampton and Mrs Albert (Martha) Carlson of Boyd; and several nephews.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her two husbands; one brother, Albert; and two sisters, Anna who died in Germany at the age of two and Mrs Fred (Marie) Foote.

Mrs. Elizabeth Peterson, 71, died at the New Hampton hospital at 12:20pm Monday where she had been most of the time for the past several months.

Funeral services were held at the Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton at 2pm Thursday with the pastor, Rev. Luther Berven, officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery. Arrangements are in charge of the Perry Funeral Service.

She is survived by one son, Leonard Downes of Fredericksburg, three grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs Albert Carlson of Boyd and Mrs Ed Zipse of New Hampton.

Mrs Peterson had spent most of her life in and around Fredericksburg and until her health failed she was employed at the Kennedy's Department Store and the Bo-Peep Shop. Mrs Hauth sang and the pallbearers were Leon Carlson and Bob, Clifford, Clarence, Harry and Erwin Ohm, all nephews.
