Harold C. Weitenhagen, 85, passed away Friday afternoon, September 29, 2000, at the Neely-Ray Hospice House in Gilbert, Arizona. Harold was born in Fredericksburg, Iowa, January 5, 1915, the son of Frank and Marie (Kammeyer) Weitenhagen.

Harold was raised in Fredericksburg, attended St. Paul's Parochial School, and graduated from Fredericksburg High School in 1933. He moved to Waterloo and graduated from Gates Business College in 1935. Harold worked at the D-X Petroleum Divisional Office and spent some time in Chicago. In 1941 he moved to Baltimore Maryland, and worked for the Glen Martin Aircraft Plant during World War II.

On June 10, 1942, while in Baltimore, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Troge of St. Ansgar, Iowa, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Our Savior.

After the war, Harold moved back to Waterloo and worked at John Deere's and Lister Concrete Products. Two sons, Ron and James were born. He bought Lister Contrete Products business with Robert Purdy and worked there until he sold his interest in the business in 1977 and retired. After retiring, he continued to live in Waterloo in the summer, but would spend the winters in Texas and Arizona.

His wife passed away in Mesa, Arizona, in 1990. The following year he sold his house in Waterloo and moved to Fredericksburg, but continued to spend his winters in Mesa. In 1998, he moved to Mesa full-time and lived at the Pines at the Park Apartments.

Harold was a longtime member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg, and was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Mesa at the time of his death.

Harold is survived by his sons and their wives: Ronald and Barbara of Houston, Texas, James and Andrea Tronslin of Beaverton, Oregon; two granddaughters, Amy and Erin Weitenhagen of Houston; a sister, Loretta Downes of Fredericksburg.

Harold was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
