Cherokee Benefactor Koser is Dead at 79
Dr. Donald Clare Koser, 79, 209 Ridgeview Drive, Cherokee, died suddenly Thursday morning at his home due to a heart condition.

Services will be 4 p.m. Saturday at Koser Spring Lake Park. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. The Boothby Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Dr. Koser was born June 26, 1908, at Rippey. He married Janet Ashman Dec. 19, 1936, in Lincoln, Neb. He graduated from the Nebraska Medical School and started his medical practice in 1938, which he continued until he retired in June 1986. He had served as the Cherokee County medical examiner from 1960 until 1985.

He was a member of the Cherokee Rotary Club and the American Medical Association. He was on the staff of Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital, was on the Cherokee Parks and Recreation Board, the Cherokee Symphony board and was active in the Cherokee Community Theater. He was the medical examiner for the Cherokee Mental Health Hospital Commission, was president of the Cherokee Area Archives Board and had been active in many other community affairs.

He is survived by his wife, two sons and one daughter, John Koser of Bloomington, Minn. Stephen Koser of Fort Madison and Nancy Wilson of Carbondale, Ill.; one brother and one sister, Francis Koser of Lafayette, Calif., and Mrs. Guy (Dorothy) Matson of Lincoln, Neb., and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.
