Kline, Sr., Roy (1909 - 1986)

Roy Kline Sr., 76, died Monday evening at his home at 223 W. Locust St. He had been a resident of Cherokee almost all his life.

Services will be Saturday at the First Church of Christ in Cherokee. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Boothby Funeral Home of Cherokee is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Kline was born Dec. 29 1909, at Albia. On July 2, 1944, he married Leona Augard at Highland Park, Ill. He worked for the Illinois Central Railroad from 1953 – 1945 and for the Cherokee post office for 33 years, retiring in 1978. He was a member of the First Church of Christ and the Disabled American Veterans of World War II having served in the U.S. Army.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Roy K. Kline Jr., St. Paul, Minn. And Mike Kline, Cherokee; two daughters, Mrs. David (Sandra) Hardman, Salt Lake City, Utah, and Salli Kline, Pfronten Osch, West Germany; two stepsonS, Pete Augard, Atlanta, Ga. And Tom Augard, Cherokee, and 11 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Geraldine, on July 4, 1944.
