Joe Kastengren Sr., 92 of Aurelia, died Monday evening in Country Side Estates, Cherokee.

Services will be Thursday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Cherokee. The Rev. Delmar Carlson will officiate with burial in Good Hope Cemetery, rural Cherokee. Wharton Funeral Home of Aurelia is in charge of arrangements.

He was born April 12, 1895, in Engelholm Sweden. He came to the United States as a young man and served in the army during World War I. On July 31, 1920, he married Hulda Marie Peterson in Cherokee. They farmed in the Aurelia area, retiring to Aurelia in 1959. Mrs. Kastengren died June 19, 1967.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Freeman (Frances) Bruning of Quimby; Mrs. Bradley (Marion) Tate, Coon Rapids and Mrs. Olle (Shirley) Bengtsson, Longmont, Colo.; four sons, Nels Kastengren, Cherokee, and Leonard, Joe Jr. and John Kastengren, all of Aurelia; 31 grandchildren; 31 great grandchildren and four great great-great grandchildren.
