Mrs. Mildred Peterson, 74, died Thursday at the Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee, following a long illness.Services for Mrs. Peterson will be held Monday at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Peterson was born Mildred E. Bell on Nov 1, 1910 in Cherokee County. She married John W. Peterson on June 2, 1927 at Dakota City, Neb. The couple lived on a farm east of Cherokee until 1963, when they moved into town. They were custodians at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church from 1963 to 1973.
She is survived by one son, Marvin Peterson of Cherokee; 2 daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Joyce) Gould of Winfield, Kan., Mrs. Dale (Jane) Wilmot of Cherokee; one brother, Roy Bell of California; one sister, Mrs. Arnold (Mabel) Schroeder of Pasadena, Texas; 10 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Her husband died Sept. 25, 1985. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. (Source: Former Cherokee County Historical Society scrapbook. Clipping hand dated 10-19-85)
