Harold F. Dyslin, 67, of Aurelia, died Tuesday, March 30, 2004 in St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center, Sioux City, following a brief illness.

Services will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cherokee. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Aurelia.

Harold was born September 6, 1936, in Larrabee to Floyd and Fern (Loving) Dyslin. He graduated from Aurelia High School in 1954. Harold worked for Swanson’s Warehouse for several years and then entered the U.S. Army. Following his military service, he returned to Cherokee County and was employed by Walnut Grove for 36 years. On December 29, 1962, he married Elaine Hackett in Quimby. Harold had also worked for Cargill, the Cherokee Boys and Girls Home and finally, Hubbard Feeds in Storm Lake, retiring due to poor health in August 2003. He was a member of the American Legion in Aurelia.

Survivors include his wife, daughters: Gwen DuBois and her husband Roger of Hartley; Melissa Dyslin and her fiancé, Scott Lehman of Norfolk, Neb.; a son, Brad Dyslin and his wife Cari, of Yorktown Heights, N.Y.; four brothers: Virgil “Bud” Dyslin and his wife, Cleone, of Storm Lake; Don Dyslin and his wife, Darlene, of St. Paul, Minn.; Larry Dyslin and his wife, Elaine, of Wheat Ridge, Colo.; Joey Dyslin and his wife, Kathy, of Cherokee; three sisters, Evelyn Sassman of Cherokee; Donna Mckissock of St. Paul, Minn.; Dianne Quevada and her husband, Carlos, of Chula Vista, Calif.; seven grandchildren: Andrea Salley, Sandy Soden, Tammy Salzkorn, Heather Salzkorn, Mason Dyslin, Tanner Dyslin, McKenzie Dyslin; five great-grandchildren: Kenny Soden, Trayton Grime, Kaylie Jatho, Joya Salzkorn, Jade Salley; several nieces and nephews.
