Cherokee, Iowa – Dale D. Menke, 50, of Cherokee died Tuesday in a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness.

Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in the Reorganized Church of Latter Day Saints in Cherokee. Elder Donald L. Graham will officiate. The body will be cremated, and the ashes will be buried in the Calumet Cemetery at a later date. The Greenwood Funeral Home of Cherokee is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Menke was born Dec. 18, 1932, in O’Brien County.

He married Patricia White June 15, 1958, in Cherokee. He worked as a linotype operator for the Sac Sun in Sac City and later for the Cherokee Daily Times, retiring in 1961.

Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Christy) Barnes of Sioux City and Mrs. Lonnie (Cindy) Meister of Algona; two sons, Mike and Charles, both of Cherokee; his mother, Mrs. Marie Menke of Cherokee; one brother, Raymond of Cherokee; one sister, Mrs. Lois Ceder of Cherokee, and four grandchildren.
