Lucille M. Jones, 79, of Cherokee, Iowa passed away Saturday, November 2, 1996, in Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. at the Greenwood Funeral Home in Cherokee. Rev. Jeff Krueger will officiate and burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Aurelia, Iowa. A family prayer service will be held today at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home. There will be visitation at the funeral home today until the time of the service.

Mrs. Jones was born May 25, 1917 in Afton Township, Cherokee County, Iowa to William and Ella (Mongan) Dreyer. She attended school in Cherokee County. On December 25, 1938, she married John Jones in Storm Lake, Iowa. They farmed near Aurelia for many years. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren and had a love of flowers and gardening. She had been a resident of Cherokee county all her life.

Survivors include her husband; four sons: Jerry and his friend Sharry; Dean and Dave, all of Cherokee; and Tom and his wife Carla, Aurelia; three daughters: Shirley and her husband Jim Beck; Marie and her husband Gerald Jones; and Millie and her husband Tim Bruhn, all of Cherokee; three sisters: Mary Johnson, Ruth Dreyer and Pauline and her husband Bernie Stief, all of Cherokee; one brother, Frank Dreyer and his wife Helen, Cherokee; 13 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Tim in 1971, two sisters, one grandchild, and one brother-in-law, Leroy Johnson.
