Mrs. Fern Dyslin, 77, died Wednesday at the Marian Health Center in Sioux City after a short illness. She was a resident at the Country Side Estates in Cherokee for the past five years and a resident of Cherokee for many years.
Services will be Friday at 2 p.m. from the First Church of Christ in Cherokee. Mr. Don Hensley and Mr. Karl Peterson will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Aurelia. There will be a family prayer service at the church Friday. Boothby Funeral Home of Cherokee is in charge of arrangements.
Fern Loving was born April 15, 1907, at Hinton, Ill. She married Floyd G. Dyslin Oct. 10, 1923, at Vermillion, S.D. She had worked at Hilltop Care Center and the Sheffield Hotel, both in Cherokee. Mrs. Dyslin was a long-time member of the First Church of Christ.
Survivors include five sons, Vergil “Bud” Dyslin, Storm Lake, Donald Dyslin, St. Paul, Minn., Harold Dyslin, Aurelia; Larry Dyslin, Wheat Ridge, Colo. And Joey Dyslin, Cherokee; four daughters, Mrs. Carroll (Doris) Deaton, San Jose, Calif., Mrs. Floyd (Evelyn) Sassman, Rembrandt, Mrs. Donna McKissock, St. Paul and Mrs. Carlos (Dianne) Quevedo, Chula Vista, Calif.; two sisters, Mrs. Frances Deyo and Mrs. Dorothy Scott, both of Colorado; 27 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband on July 2, 1979; also, two brothers and three sisters.
