Albert A. Alingh, 71, of Cherokee died suddenly May 2 at Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital due to a heart condition. He lived in Cherokee for 31 years and prior to this had been a resident of Sioux City.

He was born April 26, 1902, at Hospers and was married to LaVerne Steenyk on Mar. 1, 1929, at Sioux City. Mr. Alingh had worked at the Cherokee Mental Health Institute for many years and during the past five years had been employed as a custodian at Caswell Manufacturing Co. He was a member of the Senior Citizens Happy Hours Club and was serving as its vice president.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gerald of Des Moines and Albert of Omaha, Neb.; 5 grandchildren, and two sisters, Mrs. James Holleman of Oak Ridge, Tenn. And Mrs. Winnie Kirchner of Sioux City. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and a sister.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery in Sioux City.
