Roy C. Reed, 76, of 706 Aspen St., died Tuesday at St. Luke’s Medical Center, Sioux City, after a brief illness.

Mr. Reed was born Dec. 26, 1905, at Nelson, Wis., to Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Reed. He married Opal Hahn on March 2, 1929, in Sioux City. He lived in San Francisco and worked as a mechanic for many years until retiring and moving to Cherokee in 1980. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Jerry Reed, Alma, Mich.; one granddaughter; brothers, Raymond Reed, Kingsley; Earl Reed, San Bruno, CA., and Sidney Reed, San Francisco; and sisters, Mrs. Caroll (Ruth) Walrod and Mrs. Pearl Howard, both of San Carlos, CA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and a sister.
