Opal L. Reed, 89, of Cherokee, died Monday, September 6, 1999 at her home, of an apparent heart attack.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday at Oak Hill Cemetery, Cherokee. Gregg Johnson will officiate. Her body was cremated. Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee, is in charge of arrangements. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be sent to her granddaughter, Janet Reed Middlebrook, 6199 Wildwood Drive, Elwell, Michigan 48832-9510.

She was born March 13, 1910 in Washta, Iowa to C. W. and Berdella Hahn. She attended schools in the Washta area. On Mar 2, 1929 she married Roy C. Reed in Sioux City, Iowa. He preceded her in death December 21, 1982. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cherokee. She worked for Bunkers Cleaners and Hope’s Fashion Farm for many years. She enjoyed sewing and gardening.

Survivors include her granddaughter, Janet Reed Middlebrook, of Elwell, Michigan; 1 sister, Mildred Scharff, of Cherokee; 1 brother, Clifford Hahn, and his wife, LaVonne, of Allen, Texas; a daughter-in-law, Jean Reed, of Alma, Michigan.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and 1 son Jerry (July 22, 1991)
