Harriet A. Fuchs, 93, of Cherokee died Sunday Dec. 29, 2002, at Carriage Hills in Cherokee following a short illness.

Memorial services are on Thursday, Jan 2,2003, at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee. Mrs. Fuch's remains were cremated.

She was born on Feb 18, 1909, at rural Early, Iowa to David and Mary (Ruffcorn) Huston. She graduated from Early High School in 1926. She attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake for one year and also attended the Capital City Commercial College in Des Moines for one year. She was married to Vern E. Rowley on Sept. 11, 1929, at Elk Point, S.D. She was later married to Osroe C. Fuchs on August 1, 1933, at Omaha. She had worked for the National City Insurance Company in Sioux City, Chicago National Investment in Chicago and for the Department of Social Services of Cherokee County for 17 years, retiring in 1972. She was a member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church, the Order of Eastern Star and Past Matrons of the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed reading and needlework.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter Joan Werthman, a grandson, David Mundt, two brothers and one sister.

She is survived by three daughters: Dr. Ruth Pigott of Kearney, Nebraska; Margaret and her husband Dr. Marvin Mundt of Valparaiso, Ind.; Cathie Flanagan of Des Moines, 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great great grandson.
