Services were June 23, 1997 for Bernard D. "Bud" Eng, 63, of Ida Grove at Christensen-Ciha Funeral Home in Ida Grove. Dr. Herb Johnson officiated with burial with military rites conducted by American Legion McNamara-Moore Post #61 in the Hayes Township Cemetery in rural Arthur.

Mr. Eng died June 20 at the Odebolt Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Odebolt.

Mr. Eng was born on Oct. 29, 1933, in Aurelia, the son of Clarence and Edith (Anderson) Eng. He received his education in Ida Grove, graduating in 1952. He then served in the United States Marines Corps. He was employed as a painter and farmhand in Cherokee and Ida Counties, as well as in California.

Survivors include a sister, Donna Throne of Ida Grove; two nephews, Walter Throne of Dallas, Texas, and Gene Eng of Odebolt; two nieces, Tania Kaas of Cedar Rapids and Vanessa Eng of Windom, Minn.; two great-nieces, Leah and Kira Eng, both of Odebolt; an aunt, Hazel Belstene of Odebolt, and many cousins.
