Hilda M. Casey
Hilda M. Casey, 67, of Cherokee passed away Saturday, March 2, 2002, at 10:30 p.m. in the Cherokee Villa following several months of illnesses.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 6th, at 10:30 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Cherokee, Iowa. Pastor Richard Arndt will officiate. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the Church on Wednesday. Visitation will be on Tuesday, from 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. at the Boothby Funeral Home in Cherokee with the family present from 6:30 until 8 p.m.
Hilda was born January 3, 1935 in Moorhead, Iowa to Sven and Dagmar (Sorensen) Torbensen. She attended Moorhead Schools. She was confirmed in the Bethesda Lutheran Church at Moorhead, Iowa. She was married to Freeman Casey on July 24, 1955, in Cherokee, Iowa. She had worked for several dairies in Cherokee and had also worked for Julius Cleaners in Cherokee. She had been a resident of Cherokee most of her life. She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, was a former member of the B.P.W., and was active in the Meals on Wheels program in Cherokee She enjoyed sewing, gardening, and making dolls.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Freeman on September 14, 1993.
She is survived by three sons: Steven Casey and his wife Susan of Cherokee; Douglas Casey and his wife Gloria of Manson, Iowa; Mark Casey and his wife Marcia of Cherokee; 9 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson; one sister and three brothers: Anna Mary Smith and her husband Burdette. of St. Paul Nebraska; Dan Torbensen of Sioux City, Iowa; Allen Torbensen of Panora, Iowa; Norris Torbensen and his wife Hazel of Cherokee, Iowa.
