Glen R. Townsend, 82 Glen R. Townsend, 82, died Thursday in Sioux Valley Memorial Hospital, Cherokee, following a lingering illness. His home was on a farm in Grand Meadow Township. He had been a resident of Cherokee County all his life.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Memorial Presbyterian Church in Cherokee. The Rev. Richard Shaffer and Dr. Eugene Tolstedt will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Cherokee. There will be a family prayer service at 10:15 a.m. at the church on Monday. Boothby Funeral Home of Cherokee is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Townsend was born on Feb. 23, 1905, in Cherokee County. He married Evelyn Peterson. She died in 1965. On Nov. 27, 1965, he married Garnet Fellom at Dakota City, Neb. He farmed all his life until retiring in 1975. He was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church and the IOOF Lodge.

He is preceded in death by a brother Lloyd.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Roy Townsend, Washta; a daughter, Mrs. Jim (Lona) Walsh, Emmetsburg; his mother, Martha Townsend, Cherokee; a brother, Darold Townsend, Cherokee; two sisters, Dona Jean Townsend, Cherokee and Ethel Small, Brandon, S.D.; four grandchildren; three stepsons; two stepdaughters; 18 step-grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
