FRANK LEROY SECHLER MERIDEN
— Frank LeRoy Sechler, 73, died at 3:15 a.m. Wednesday at Sioux, Valley Memorial Hospital in Cherokee following a 2 ½ year illness. He had made his home in Meriden the past 45 years.
He served 15 years on the town council from 1942 until his election as mayor in 1957. He was Mayor of Meriden for 11 years serving until 1968. He was a charter member of the Meriden Fire Department which was established in 1949.
Born on March 27, 1898 at Flandreau, S.D., he married Fern Moody on Jan. 9, 1932 in Sioux Falls, S. D. He operated the Sechler Garage in Meriden for many years, retiring in 1960.
He was a member of Royal Neighbors Lodge, was a Veteran of World War I and a member of the World War I Barracks.
Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Donald (Charlene) Mongan of Cherokee; two sons, Ronald and Donald of Meriden; 10 grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Harry Bonner of Los Angeles, Calif.; and one brother, Wilbur Sechler of Worthington, Minn.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Boothby Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Erdmann officiating. Burial will be in Meriden Cemetery
