Roy L. McManus, 89, of Cherokee, died Sunday Feb. 20, 2000, in the Cherokee Villa, following a lengthy illness. His body was cremated and the ashes will be buried in the Oak Hill Cemetery, Cherokee, at a later date. Greenwood Funeral Home, Cherokee, is in charge of arrangements.
He was born Feb. 12, 1911, in Grady, Okla., to Walter and Alice (Raney) McManus. He attended school in Cherokee. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. On Sept 12, 1932, he married Dorothea Smith in Vermillion, S.D. She preceded him in death on Dec. 5, 1999.
Survivors include: two sons, James D. and his wife Maxine of Waynesboro, Ga., and Ronald G. of Albuquerque, N. M.; two brothers, Harry, Cherokee, and O.C., Pasadena, Calif.; three sisters, Gertrude Howard and her husband Don, Tecama, Neb., Hazeline Boulee, Harbor City, Calif., and Dora Dean Kahl, Cherokee; also two grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife and two sisters.
