Wayne Burdette Woltman, 80, of Cherokee, died Monday, Feb 16, 2004 at 1 p.m. on a snowmobile trip with his family in the Snowy Mountains near Laramie, Wyo.
Services were held Saturday, Feb 21, 2004 at 2 p.m. at the St. Pauls Methodist Church with Rev. Ray Hampton officiating. Interment was in Oak Hill Cemetery.
He was born on a farm south of Cleghorn, to Albert and Amy Woltman, He graduated from Aurelia High School in 1940. He served in the U.S. Navy SeaBee Unit in W.W. II from 1942 to 1945. He farmed north of Aurelia on the family farm, and due to illness, he left the farm and started Woltman Real Estate that he owned and operated from 1959 to 1982. He was united in marriage to Eulalia Mary Miller in 1961.
He served as president of the Northwest Iowa Board of Realtors, and served on the Cherokee County Board of Review.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Eulalia; three sons Kevin of Larrabee; Kirk and his wife Krista of Marion, and Kyle of Hudson Falls, N.Y. Also three grandchildren, Sophia, Miles, and Mitchell. He is also survived by two sisters, Joyce Phipps Pyle of Cherokee, and Genevieve Steig of Iowa City, and one brother, Gary of Arnolds Park.
