Harriet Waddell, 94, died Friday, January 4, 1991 in the Hilltop Care Center in Spirit Lake.
Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 7 from the Boothby Funeral Home.Rev. Ann Rouse officiated with burial held in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Aurelia.
Harriet Sage was born Nov. 28, 1896 in Cherokee. She graduated from Cherokee High School in 1914. She attended Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and Morningside College in Sioux City. She taught music for 9 years in the Primghar and Aurelia schools. She was married to Orlie Waddell in 1922. She followed the music profession all her life. She had been church pianist, organist, choir director and had taught private music lessons for over 40 years.
She was a member of the Memorial Presbyterian Church, a 50 year member of Carnation Chapter #165, Order of Eastern Star, and the American Legion Auxiliary in Aurelia. Her home was at 211 E. Cedar St. in Cherokee. She had been a resident of Cherokee since 1970. Prior to this she lived in Aurelia.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1970, one brother and four sisters.
She is survived by two sons; Gordon Waddell of Okoboji and Keith Waddell of Tuscom, Ariz.; three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one brother, Harold Sage of Cherokee.
