Albert (Bud) Witcombe, 86, of LaHabra, Calif. died June 25, 2003 of a massive stroke.

Albert was born at Washta on June 3, 1917 to Frank and Elice Witcombe. He was drafted into the U.S. Navy at the age of 26, leaving his wife of six years and four year old daughter. A son was born while he was overseas. he was a deputy sheriff for Cherokee County before moving to California where he worked as a security officer for Firestone Tire and Rubber, for Autonetics and Rockwell International. He retired in 1982 at the age of 65.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Evalyn (Ballantyne) Witcombe, his daughter, Beverly Condo and son Robert Witcombe; five granddaughters and six great grandsons and one great-granddaughter.
