POCAHONTAS - Loral A. Whisler, 87, Pocahontas, died Tuesday, Oct 2, 1990 at Marian Health Center.

Funeral services are at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct 5, at Powers Funeral Home in Pocahontas with the Rev. William Smith officiating. Burial will be at the St. John Lutheran Cemetery in Lizard Township. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home.

He was born on June 15, 1903 at Unionville, the son of Samuel and Frankie Morrison Whisler. He attended Udell Community Schools. In 1931, he married Effie Snow of Gayville, S.D. The couple lived at Gayville for several years before moving to Iowa where they lived on various farms. In 1967 he retired from farming and they moved to Palmer. In 1981, they moved to Pocahontas. He has resided at the Pocahontas Manor Care Center since May of 1990. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Lizard Township.

He is survived by his wife, Effie, three daughters, Mrs. Howard (Mary) Ballantyne of Aurelia; Mrs. Dale (Iva) Julius of Cherokee; Mrs. Wilfreld (Linda) Rohlfs of Palmer; 16 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and a sister, Bertha Lauglin of Dows.
