Mrs. Ella Thomson White was born in Will County, Ill., September 26th, 1879. She was the daughter of john and Emma Lent Thomson who came to Cherokee county in 1881. About nine years ago she was bereft of a mother and was left to take the mother’s place in the home and she did it so well that it deserves to be put on record to her credit. Early in life she gave her heart to Christ and until the day of her death lived a consistent Christian life, being the greater part of this time a member of the United Presbyterian Church of Quimby, Iowa. When called upon for any service in the church whether to preside at the organ or to teach a class in the Sabbath school she was ready and willing and always efficient. The influence of her life upon the young in the community will not soon be lost. Her testimony was against even the appearance of evil. Modest and retiring and not the most rugged, we may truly say of her, “She hath done what she could.”

On Dec. 6th, 1901, she was married to John H. White at the home of her parents in Kendall County, Ill., and soon after went with Mr. and Mrs. John White to Canon City, Colorado, in the hope of being benefited by that climate. But all efforts were of no avail and on January 7th, 1902, she entered into rest.

The funeral services were held on last Friday at the home of John White and were conducted by Rev. J. D> Graham assisted by Rev. J. C. Hutchinson. A very large number were present to attest their respect for the dead and to manifest their sympathy for the living and the remains were laid to rest beside her mother in Oakwood cemetery.
